Sello Moloko

Executive Chairman

Sello is co-founder of Thesele Group and has more than 24 years’ experience in financial services. He’s the former CEO of Old Mutual Asset Managers and former deputy CEO of Capital Alliance Asset Managers.   

Sello is currently the non-executive chairman of Alexander Forbes Group Holdings Limited and Sibanye Gold Limited, and a non-executive director of General Reinsurance Africa and listed Stor-Age Limited. He is also a former director of the Industrial Development Corporation and listed companies Gold Fields, Makalani Holdings, Acucap Properties and Sycom Property Fund.  

He is a trustee of the Nelson Mandela Foundation and chairs its Investment Committee. In 2003, the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP), of which he was the national president from 2005 to 2007, presented him with the Financial Services Pioneer Award.

Thabo Leeuw

Chief Executive Officer

Thabo, managing director and co-founder of Thesele Group, has more than 27 years’ experience in the food and beverages, petrochemicals, ICT and financial services sectors. He is former global director of Cazenove PLC and director of Corporate Finance in South Africa.  

Thabo is the non-executive chairman of ICAS South Africa and non-executive director of Hulamin Limited, Rhodes Foods Limited, Prudential Investment Managers and Vodacom Insurance. He also serves on the Strategic Investment Committee of the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund.

He was part of the team that drove the drafting of the Financial Sector Charter. Thabo was also secretary general of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) from 2003 to 2005. In 2003, he was a Financial Mail-rated analyst in the transport and healthcare sectors.

Sibusiso Mthembu

Executive Director

Sibusiso joined Thesele as a senior executive in 2009. In his career of more than 15 years, he has held various roles in asset management and investment banking with local and international banks, including Real Africa Durolink and HSBC.  

Sibusiso is a co-founder of Sansara Group, a corporate advisory firm that merged with the Macquarie advisory team. He currently serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Prudential Investment Mangers and Probe Corporation.

Oliver Petersen

Senior Executive

Oliver joined Thesele in November 2015. In his 13-year career, post articles at PwC, he has held various associate and executive roles in investment, corporate finance and private equity.

He originated and led Thesele’s investment in Elite Truck Hire and Probe Corporation and also represents Thesele on the board of both of these portfolio companies.

Oliver has been a senior deal executive at CapitalWorks Private Equity, CEO at Brait SA’s Alternative Equity Partners and COO at Circle Capital Ventures. He has held various board positions and is a former secretary general of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP). Oliver is also a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants

Marlan Mouton

Senior Executive

Marlan, who joined Thesele in October 2015, has held various executive, entrepreneurial and advisory roles in his career of more than 15 years. His expertise lies in mergers and acquisitions, renewable energy and in the oil and gas industries. 

He was the CEO and co-founder of Hybrid Capital, a corporate advisory firm. Through Hybrid, he was part of the core leadership team that established Mabele Fuels, a leading bio-ethanol manufacturing company. Prior to Hybrid, Marlan was involved in several successful entrepreneurial ventures and also advised and managed various investments in the industrial, gaming and property sectors.

Marcia Ntechane

Investment Associate

Marcia joined the Thesele Group in November 2017, assisting the team with transaction evaluation, due diligence and execution. She has 7 years of investment and corporate finance advisory experience

Marcia previously worked as a Manager in the Deloitte Corporate Finance team and has held various transaction advisory roles including valuations and business modelling, infrastructure and capital projects, and mergers and acquisition including black business advisory. Her industry knowledge spans from consumer business and from an infrastructure and capital projects perspective: transport, energy, construction and ICT.

Prior to joining the Deloitte Corporate Finance team, she was a Senior Associate at the Utho Capital SME Infrastructure Private Equity Fund. Prior to that, she was also a Relationship Manager at FNB Private Clients and gained extensive credit analysis experience.

Angelique Roman-Lee

Office Manager

Angelique, Thesele's office manager, has been the management team's right hand for the past 12 years.  

She provides administrative support to the entire team, schedules appointments, make travel arrangements and much more.
